I would've much preferred buying Lightroom as a standalone but the creative cloud version is more feature rich.
Lightroom is perfect for me as an amateur/enthusiast photographer that is more interested in taking pics than processing them. Even though I had already paid, I was forced to give my CC number for next year.

If you have a current 1 year plan with time left, YOU CAN'T ADD TO IT.
Besides speed, it still misses some basic functions which would make photographer's workflow easier and which many users required on their forums. Photoshop I haven't tried yet, only basic panorama stitching function, but it seems ok.
They didn't tamper much with the user interface which is good.
